Fine wines require a specific range of humidity and temperature for proper storage and aging. The Habitat Monitor ® monitors wine cellar humidity and temperature and can maintain the ideal environment for the proper aging and storage of your wines.

The Habitat Monitor is a digital wine hygrometer and thermometer, a precise thermostat and humidistat. It measures and displays climate conditions and records temperature and humidity extremes. If the temp or humidity falls outside an acceptable range (pre-programmed at the factory or easily selected by the user), an alarm will sound. With optional components, the alarm can sound in a remote location, trigger a security system or contact you directly with a dialer.

The Habitat Monitor can also automatically CONTROL your wine storage temperature and humidity. In conjunction with one of our humidifiers, it will maintain the proper humidity levels to within 1° F and 2% humidity. With the addition of one of our heaters, it will also maintain the proper temperature.

Proper Wine Humidity

The proper range of humidity for long term aging of fine wines is 50 to 70% RH. Be aware: most commercially available wine storage cabinets and wine cellar cooling units do NOT consistently maintain this range.

Have you been wondering what to do with that old refrigerator in the basement? Now you can easily and economically turn it into the perfect wine storage unit. Simply by adding the Habitat Monitor ® and one of our small humidifiers, your old refrigerator will provide a stable humidity and temperature environment for wine. The humidity controlling features of the system will ensure a proper wine humidity level, while the precision temperature monitoring and control features of our device can be used to provide accurate feedback and insure proper temperature control. If needed, a cooling appliance can also be added and regulated by the system.
